Nominations will be assessed in terms of overall impact on competences in the European food industry to produce safe, high quality and varied foods that meet the needs of consumers.
The achievements considered are:

initiative and vision in bringing together expertise to work effectively across traditional discipline boundaries and overcoming barriers to collaboration
inventiveness in adapting science and technology for new applications in the food manufacturing area
leadership in the development and gaining acceptance of good industry practice and standards
commitment to enhancing the food science and technology skill base in Europe by mentoring young researchers or industry practitioners
initiative and drive in setting up effective networks of organisations and individuals and in developing means of international communication on food science and technology issues
effectiveness in promoting consumer understanding of Food Science and Technology
Nominations can be made by member organisations of EFFoST and individuals who are members of such organisations. Calls for nominations are normally made every two years. A selection committee appointed by the EFFoST Board makes a recommendation for approval by the committee.
The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented with a specially designed award at a major EFFoST sponsored conference and will be invited to give a presentation as an invited speaker.''
